Fitch rating for Suriname

FITCH Ratings upgrades Suriname to B+
The findings of Fitch Ratings (see PDF file), which it announced today, are very encouraging. Fitch started its exercise during its visit to Suriname in the week of Monday July 18 and this with the credit rating B (single B) positive as the starting point (October 2009).

The National Assembly approved the 2011 budget on Tuesday morning, and the Central Bank of Suriname applauds the achievement of this milestone by the government and the National Assembly.

IMF report

Today the IMF published its annual report on Suriname.

The report is unusual as Suriname is one of the few countries in the world that have received a positive assessment and outlook from the IMF this year.
