From March 22nd till 24th the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance were present at the second edition of Suriname’s Business Fair.

The Central Bank aims for a more accessible image towards the public and strives to educate society on several macro economic and financial issues. The Business Fair provided an excellent stage to inform the business population of Suriname on the recent activities of the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance relating to the business environment.

The topics that were presented into detail were:

  1. The Sovereign Wealth Fund
  2. Sovereign Bonds
  3. Credits for Small and Medium Enterprises

Moreover a senior advisor to the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance was the first keynote speaker at the Business Forum side event. In a presentation called “macro economic stability and investments” the audience was given an overview of the macro economic situation, the upcoming reforms and the incentives to improve the investment climate for entrepreneurs. In an interactive session after the presentation an expert panel of both the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance answered questions from the audience.
